Shannon Jackson is a distinguished professor of performance studies and Director of the Arts Research Center at the University of California, Berkeley. Her writings include her most recent book Social Works: Performing Art, Supporting Publics and “A Rite to Heal,” an essay on Marc Bamuthi Joseph’s red, black & Green: a blues, which was partly developed during his residency at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center and performed on campus in 2011 at the Wortham Theater.
