Kuhlman Gully Bench Dedication to Honor Wanda Adams

Public Art Unveiled in OST/South Union Area of Southeast Houston

What: Kuhlman Gully Bench Public Art Installation and Wanda Adams Dedication
┬áThe Southeast Houston Transformation Alliance (SEHTA), working to revitalize the OST/South Union Area, is hosting public art installation and dedication ceremony followed by a reception. The public art title “Kuhlman Gully Bench” was created by Houston artist Sam Jones from discarded trash found in Kuhlman Gull which flows through the neighborhood. The bench is being dedicated in honor of Houstonian Wanda Adams, a public servant, and urban advocate and Southeast Houston community gem.

Kuhlman Gully Reception
Immediately following the ceremony there will be a reception at the Texans YMCA. The reception features a short film on Kuhlman Gully and an exhibit of design improvements for the Gully done by University of Houston graduate architecture students. During the 1880′s German immigrants Johann R. And Theo H. Kuhlmann operated a large and well established dairy farm with their families in the area now known as Riverside Terrace and OST/South Union. Kuhlman Gully is one of a few locations where the family’s name is used today, along with the Fox-Kuhlman Building.
