Research Basics
There are some fundamental concepts in social science research that provide the rationale for why we collect data (i.e. make systematic observations), how we take a research project from its inception to its conclusion, how we protect individuals that participate in our studies, and finally how we inform the public of our work.
This component provides an overview to these integral research basics.
- Key Ideas: What is social science research? What makes it this research scientific? Why do we need theory?
- The Research Steps: What steps are necessary to begin and complete a research project?
- Ethics: What guidelines must we follow when researching the lives of individuals?
- Writing the Research Paper: So I collected some data, how do I write a paper?
