Writing the Research Proposal

Before beginning a research project, many social scientists must get approval to begin. In other to obtain this approval, we write a research proposal. We use this document to present our plan of study to someone.

So what does a research proposal entail?

• A clear statement of the research question
• A review of the literature (this shows command of the field)
• Proposed Data Collection (include timeline)
• Proposed Method to Analysis
• Conclusion (highlighting potential contribution to the field)
