Writing Qualitative Research Papers
Title
Look over the titles of Notable Qualitative Studies. In titling their work, some researchers begin with a compelling or vivid phrase followed by a more descriptive subtitle. The first phrase is meant to capture the potential readers' interest so they will take the time to read the paper. The subtitle locates the paper within the sociological concepts of interest and/or the study sample. You can see this same pattern in the selection the titles of Notable Qualitative Studies.
Try to select a title for your work that will encourage readers to want to read it and let them what it is about. Sometimes using a quote from your interviews or fieldnotes can be a clever way to generate interest.
