Graduate Program

Admission Information

Applicants who are U.S. citizens must submit the following items for admission into the graduate studies program:

All other sections of the application must be mailed directly to the Department of Sociology at the address below, in a sealed envelope. Packets with missing information will be considered incomplete:

  1. Copy of applytexas.org form
  2. An official transcript from each college or university you have attended
  3. A copy of your GRE scores.
  4. 2 letters of recommendation in sealed, signed envelopes
  5. Statement of purpose: A brief essay about why you want to pursue graduate work in sociology, your experiences in sociology, and your plans after receiving a graduate degree.
  6. A current resume
  7. Optional: Application for student assistantship. More information is found on the “Assistantship” link.
