Graduate Program
Admission Information
Applicants who are U.S. citizens must submit the following items for admission into the graduate studies program:
- Graduate Application: apply online.
- Official GRE test scores: The GRE should be taken at least one month prior to submitting your application. Your scores must be sent to the Department of Sociology directly by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) system code #6870. Official GRE scores must be received by the Department before we will consider the application complete. The GRE scores should be no more than five years old.
All other sections of the application must be mailed directly to the Department of Sociology at the address below, in a sealed envelope. Packets with missing information will be considered incomplete:
- Copy of applytexas.org form
- An official transcript from each college or university you have attended
- A copy of your GRE scores.
- 2 letters of recommendation in sealed, signed envelopes
- Statement of purpose: A brief essay about why you want to pursue graduate work in sociology, your experiences in sociology, and your plans after receiving a graduate degree.
- A current resume
