About Us
The Houston Corps of Cadets is the official association of Air Force, Army, and Navy/Marine ROTC programs at the collegiate level in the Houston metro area.
ROTC Mission
The mission of the Houston Corps of Cadets is, “To prepare civic-minded college students of character, commitment, and courage for leadership positions in the U.S. military and other public service professions.”
ROTC Basics
- Military officer commissioning program concurrent with earning a bachelors or masters degree
- Option of 2, 3, or 4 year programs; open to male/female, transfers, undergraduate or graduate students
- Minimum 2.0 GPA for Army, Air Force, and Navy/Marine ROTC
- Air Force – Field Training (ROTC “boot camp”) for 5 weeks during the summer after sophomore year
- Army – Six week Leadership Development and Assessment Course after junior year
- Air Force – 4 year Active Duty commitment or more depending on chosen career field
- Army – Serve either Active Duty or Reserve Force after commissioning
ROTC Benefits

- Offers many joint events and activities— color guards, warrior runs, guest speaker events, field trips, community service, military training, physical training sessions, social events, and other activities

ROTC Scholarships and Incentives
- Many scholarships are available that pay portions of tuition, fees, and textbook funds (not room and board)
- A variety of competitive and non-competitive scholarships are offered including express scholarships for foreign languages, electrical engineering, computer science, nursing, and environmental engineering
- Monthly tax-free stipend for qualifying cadets (Freshman $300, Sophomore $350, Junior $450, Senior $500)
- Paid graduate programs available including law school, medical school, and masters and PhD programs
- Optional professional development training in the summer including parachuting, soaring, overseas visits to military bases, research at NASA and Air Force labs, and more!
Support the ROTC
Only 40% of cadets receive ROTC scholarships. We lose cadets each semester because they cannot afford a college education. The Houston Corps of Cadets scholarship endowment fund helps those cadets earn their degrees so they can serve our nation as military officers.
