1940s
Herb Brochstein attended the School of Music at UH in 1945 and was a member of the first UH Marching Band. He is the founder of Pro-Mark, a company located in Houston that manufactures drumsticks and percussion accessories, which he has now sold to his son. The company sells to more than 110 countries and has clients like Ringo Starr and Phil Collins. He played professionally for 35 years, including six years with the Ed Gerlach band and many years in the Gulf Coast Giants of Jazz. Herb stays in touch with percussion faculty at the Moores School and still attends concerts there.

1960s
John N. Molbeck Jr. (Political Science, ’68) has been named chief operating officer and president of HCC Insurance, Inc.
Mike Weingart (Journalism, ’63), president of Carlson Wagonlit Travel/World Travel Agency, has been elected president of the Houston Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association.
Bill Worrell (’66) is one of the most familiar faces in the Houston sports scene; he recently completed his 21st season as the play-by-play announcer for the Houston Rockets basketball game telecasts. Bill was one of the original employees of Home Sports Entertainment, the city's first sports cable channel. He is also a civic leader, serving on the board of the MyFriends Foundation for children in crisis. In 1998, Bill was awarded the Distinguished Alumni award from the UH School of Communication and continues to serve UH as a board member of the Athletic Department’s Cougar Pride organization.
1970s
Clyde Arnold (Economics, ’71, M.A. ’73) has been appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at Northern State University.

Mike Brem
Mike Brem (History, ’79, M.B.A. ’81, J.D. ’90) has been named partner in the law firm of Schirrmeister Diaz-Arrastia Brem, LLP.
Gray H. Miller (History, ’74, J.D. ’78) has been approved unanimously by the Senate Judiciary Committee to serve as U.S. district judge for the southern district of Texas.
Robert Wuhl (Radio and TV, '76) thoroughly enjoyed the success of ARLI$$ for all of its seven seasons on HBO. He currently stars in another HBO series, Assume the Position with Mr. Wuhl. Wuhl has also been critically praised for his work in films such as Bull Durham, Batman, Good Morning Vietnam, Mistress, Blaze, and Cobb. In 1996, he directed, wrote, and starred in his own independent feature, Open Season, a hilarious and biting satire of the TV rating system. Wuhl has been honored twice with Emmy Awards, in ’91 and ’92 for writing the Academy Awards telecasts hosted by Billy Crystal. He has also received a CableAce Best Actor nomination from the first season of Tales of the Crypt (directed by Richard Donner). There will be another edition of Assume the Position coming out in 2007.
1980s
Peter Röhe Barthelme (Economics, ’89) is managing partner of Röhe & Wright Builders. The company has won multiple 2006 PRISM Awards, recognizing Houston’s top home builders. Röhe & Wright received awards for Custom Home of the Year (in two price categories), Custom Home Kitchen of the Year, and Town Home/Multiplex of the Year.

J. Downey Bridgewater
J. Downey Bridgwater (Music, ’84), president and chief executive officer of Sterling Bank, has been named chairman of the board of directors for Sterling Bancshares, Inc. Bridgwater was a recipient of the 2005 Houston Alumni Organization Distinguished Service Award.
Cathy Coers Frank (’80) and her husband, Jay Frank, began Reunions by Class Act, a full-service reunion planning company, in 1995. Class Act has grown in the past 12 years to become the most-established reunion-planning company in Houston. She has remained a diligent volunteer for Chi Omega and UH since her graduation in 1980 and currently serves as a board member for UH Band Alumni. In April, Cathy was honored as the Chi Omega Alumna of the Year by the Houston Chi Omega Alumnae Association. She was also recently named by the Houston Alumni Organization as a recipient of its Distinguished Service Award. Cathy will receive this prestigious award at the Distinguished Alumni Awards dinner at the UH Hilton on November 30, 2006.
Sally Gutierrez (Consumer & Home Economics, ’80) has been appointed director of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Research and Development's National Risk Management Research Laboratory in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is the first Hispanic female to be appointed to this leadership position.
ConSandra Jones (Journalism, ’84) has published her second book, Wisdom for the Journey, teaching empowering life lessons and offering advice.
Lou Martini Jr. (Radio & Television, ’84) joined the cast of the “family” in the past season of HBO's series The Sopranos. Martini plays Anthony Infante on the show.
Charles Robinson II (History, ’87, Ph.D. ’97) is expanding the African American Studies Program at the University of Arkansas, where he is a history professor and director of African American Studies.
Karen Wilkson (Music, ’83, M.M. ’85) and her students at Pilgrim Lutheran School have won the Consumer Aerosol Products Counsel’s National Science Class Challenge.
1990s
Nicolas Brines (Psychology, ’92) has been named vice president of the American Heart Association’s Gulf Coast Division.

Crystal Brown (Communications, ’96) has been appointed to the State Advocacy Committee of the American Heart Association.
Lisa Chmiola Burns (Journalism, ’98) has transferred to the Houston office of the American Heart Association, where she is serving as corporate marketing director.
Donald (Psychology, ’95, M.A. ’96) and Stephanie Dement (French, ’95) are pleased to announce the birth of their son, Jonah Fulton Dement, on May 12, 2005.
Ronald Green (Psychology, ’93) has been named chairman of Houston’s Budget and Fiscal Affairs Committee.
Robert Kramp (Politcal Science, ’96) has been named vice president and director of the national research and client services group of Grubb & Ellis Company.
Kristen Loden (Music, M.M. ’92) has been named executive director of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
Gregory S. Perrin (Theatre, ’92, M.F.A. ’95) has joined The University of Texas at Austin as assistant director of development in the College of Liberal Arts.
