Le Chiavi di Bel Canto (The Keys to Bel Canto)

The University of Houston Moores School of Music and the Immanuel & Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival Institute of Bel Canto Studies present this new intensive program designed for advanced singers.
- Daily individual coaching and observations
- Daily master classes including techniques in dramatic interpretation and theatrical presentation
- Emphasis on performance practices relating to musical interpretation, ornamentation, diction, and fach
- Classroom instruction of specialized topics relating to bel canto, including historical precedents and the current expectations and demands of professional performance
- Individual voice lessons available for participants (optional)
- A final concert of arias, songs, and ensembles
Faculty:
Application requirements:
- Completed application form with application fee
- DVD audition with three vocal selections, including at least one aria or song by Bellini, Donizetti, or Rossini
- List of prepared bel canto repertoire
Fee structure:
Application fee: $50 with DVD non-refundable
Registration fee: $600 (if accepted) non-refundable
Tuition: $0 (Full tuition fellowships ($2,400 value) are available to all participants, underwritten by the Immanuel & Helen Olshan Foundation.)
Optional room and board: $45/day (dorm room, double occupancy)
