VALERIE GALVAN
Captain – White Team
My name is Valerie Galvan. My major is Elementary Education (EC-4) and for the past nine years I have dedicated a big part of my life to cheerleading. While in grade school, I was a member of Texas Lone Star Cheer Company and cheered on Sm. Coed Elite. Upon graduation, I tried out for a back to back National Champion team, the University of Houston Sm. coed. Since then, I have been a cheerleader with the University of Houston for the past four years. During the time I have cheered for Houston, I was able to participate in one of the most prestigious collegiate cheerleading competitions NCA Nationals in Daytona, Florida. I later tried out for NCA (the National Cheerleading Association) staff. By my third year on NCA staff I was asked to become a Head Instructor for NCA. Working with NCA has helped me learn more about techniques as well as leadership. With these techniques and leadership skills I was able to work my way to the top to obtain the position as captain for the past two year. These past year cheering for Houston gave me many experiences such as: cheering in the bayou bucket games vs. Rice (we are the best team in this city), bowl games/events, as well as cheering for our 2006 Conference USA Champions. My goals is to graduate and continue my education in child development psychology while being the best educator I can be. Go Coogs!!
