THE ITALIAN PROGRAM
|
The program leading to a
Bachelor in Italian Studies at the University of Houston is
designed to give undergraduate students a comprehensive and
coherent vision of Italian civilization in its various aspects
and manifestations.
The program, centered on Italian language and culture, is
interdisciplinary and includes courses in literature, art,
history, political science, and economics. Students majoring
in Italian Studies will be able to expand their preparation
in one of the several directions the program offers, and to
qualify in a wide spectrum of activities such as business,
banking, interpreting and translating, international trade.
The major will also enable students to pursue further studies
in Italian literature and in other academic fields.

REQUIREMENTS
MAJOR
Students majoring in Italian Studies
must complete 18 semester hours in Italian. Of these 12 hours must be advanced.

Three semester hours in ITAL 3335.

Nine semester hours selected from: ITAL 3301, 3302, 3303, 3304, 4397, or 4398.

Twelve semester hours selected from:
ITAL 3305 or any Italian course at the 3000 level or above;

MINOR
Students minoring in Italian must complete at least 15 semester
hours in Italian.
