M.A. Program in French

Note: The full-time Master's program in French has been temporarily suspended for budgetary reasons.  However, graduate course options are available upon demand. 

We offer courses designed to meet specific needs of individual students.


Areas of Concentration:

  • Courses in French literature; critical theory (Jungian, Freudian, Feminist); History of French Thought; History of Literary Criticism.
  • Professional preparation for secondary education and/or Ph.D. studies.

    Claudine Giacchetti,

      Ph.D., Rice University. Associate Professor. Literature of the 19th century; French women writers and feminist criticism.

    Nina S. Tucci,

      Ph.D., Rice University. Associate Professor of French. Literature of the 15th century; Jungian perspectives. Language instructor, Houston Opera Studio/Houston Grand Opera.

    Jean-Michel Lanskin,

      Ph.D., Rice University, Paris National Academy of Dramatic Art, School of Law at the University of Paris.  Visiting Assistant Professor. Literature of the 19th century, French History and Culture, French Cinema.

      Ph.D., University of Virginia. Professor of French. Intellectual history.
