Course Requirements for German Majors

The following courses must be completed for a BA in German:

In addition, credit for a second year of another foreign language. For most students, this means elementary (generally 10 credits) and intermediate (generally 6 credits). Exceptions are made only upon approved petition outlining a reasonable substitution.

German majors must earn at least a 2.5 grade point average in all German courses counting toward the major and attempted at the University of Houston.

For students declaring a language major effective fall, 1995, Exit Examinations and Language Proficiency tests will be obligatory, and will be administered in the senior year. There will be no charge for the Exit Examinations nor will these jeopardize a student's graduation. In the event that there is a fee for the Language Proficiency tests, students will have to pay this fee.
