-

division courses do not actually count toward the major, which begins with
advanced courses. (Advanced courses means junior and senior level courses,
numbered 3300-4399.)

-
GERM 3333: 3334 (German Conversation and Composition).
-
GERM 4373 (German Culture and Civilization).
-
GERM 4381 (Advanced Composition and Stylistics).
-
6 additional advanced courses taught in German.
In addition, credit for a second year of another foreign language.
For most students, this means elementary (generally 10 credits) and intermediate
(generally 6 credits). Exceptions are made only upon approved petition
outlining a reasonable substitution.
German majors must earn at least a 2.5 grade point average in all German
courses counting toward the major and attempted at the University of Houston.
For students declaring a language major effective fall, 1995, Exit
Examinations and Language Proficiency tests will be obligatory,
and will be administered in the senior year. There will be no charge for
the Exit Examinations nor will these jeopardize a student's graduation.
In the event that there is a fee for the Language Proficiency tests, students
will have to pay this fee.
