Although the University of Houston has not yet incorporated Gender Identity and Expression language into their nondiscrimination statement, in January of 2010 the Vice Chancellor of Legal Affairs, Dona H. Cornell issued a memo stating that transgendered individuals are protected from discrimination at the University of Houston based on the analysis of the court case Lopez v. River Oaks Imaging & Diagnostic Group.
If you are a trans-identified student and want to have a name other than your legal name appear on your Cougar Card ID, please contact Lorraine Schroeder, director of the LGBT Resource Center.
