The College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences is pleased to announce the University of Houston’s John P. McGovern Endowed Lecture in Health and Family Values, featuring University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC) President Larry Kaiser.

The John P. McGovern endowment was established in 1999 and supports the John P. McGovern Annual Award Lectureship in Family, Health, and Human Values in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Houston. This series focuses on speakers with notable expertise in the areas of family, health, and/or human values. Each speaker is presented with the John P. McGovern Award Medal.

Dr. Kaiser will present Give and Take: Organ Transplantation in the Era of Health Care Reform. Kaiser was named president of UTHSC in 2008. He is the author of more than 250 original papers, the author or co-author of 13 books and has been named both a “Top Doc” and a “World Class Doc” multiple times by Philadelphia Magazine. Dr. Kaiser serves on the boards of the Greater Houston Partnership, Memorial Hermann Healthcare System, BioHouston and the American Heart Association in Houston and is currently chairing the Houston March of Dimes Save the Babies campaign for 2009-2010.

Please join Dr. Cynthia Freeland, Interim Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, in honoring Dr. Kaiser on Tuesday, March 30th in the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion at 7pm with a reception at 6:30pm. This event is free and open to the public.
