The Ice Skating Rink
There is a Starbucks near the middle of the mall. However, its structure is rather unusual. It is a giant service area with tables and chairs nearby to relax in. The neighboring fire place adds to the charm of this clever idea. The fire is cozy and makes one feel like they are shopping in a comfortable, intimate place rather than one that is cold and impersonal. There are also desks with charming lamps to add to the coziness. The Starbucks keeps a brisk business as it faces one of the mall’s busiest traffic “intersections.” The people skating in the nearby ice rink make up most of Starbucks’ customers. I observed that this ice rink is definitely one of the most popular things to do in the mall besides shop. Most of the skaters are young children and their parents, though I did see a few couples skating together. Everyone seemed to be having a grand time.
