DOWNLOADS FOR GREEK online at the University of Houston

If you use a PC with Windows 98 or higher, you will be able to read the Greek texts in this course with Palatino Linotype, a Unicode font found in the system.  If your computer has Windows 95, you need to download this font (Download 1 below) and install it in your system.  For a Macintosh (only with OS10.2, not with a lower operating system), if you use the Safari browser that comes now with the system you will read the Greek without difficulties.

Most pages are also available in a printable form.  You will see a link on top of each page.   In some instances there is only a printable version of a page.  Printable pages are pdf documents that you can read with Adobe Acrobat Reader (the current version is 6; you will want to update it, especially if the version in your computer is lower than 5).  This is Download 2 below.

We may exchange documents as attachments.  You will be able to  read my documents  with  Microsoft Word, preferably 98 or higher.

3) In a few lessons of the second semester, there are links to drills by Prof. Marilyn Katz, of Wesleyan University.  To be able to use these you will need to download the font she uses, SPIonic, and install it in your computer.

These are free downloads:

1)  Palatino Linotype.  Download and install all four:

PALA      PALAB     PALABI     PALAI

2)  Acrobat Reader

3) SPIonic
