Using iPod/iTunes

You’ve arrived here if you plan to use iTunes, iPodder, and an iPod (or other mp3 player) to view podcasts from this class.

First, you will need to make sure iTunes is installed on your computer; it’s available for free from:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/

*iTunes can be installed on various platforms (windows, mac, etc.)

Once you’ve downloaded and installed iTunes successfully, launch iTunes and do the following:

Go to Advanced : Subscribe to A Podcast..

Paste the following URL into the “Subscribe” dialog box:

http://mediaweb.tss.uh.edu/academic/smccombs/comm3353/comm3353_s02.xml

Once you’ve subscribed, you can find an instance of COMM 3353 in your “Podcasts” directory in iTunes:

You can see in the graphic above that COMM 3353 has been subscribed to and in this graphic contains two “episodes” of content – in this case, an episode represents a lecture.

You can configure iTunes to automatically download or you can do it manually.  In this example, you must “GET” each episode as you desire.  Make sure you monitor the subscription and download when available
