  • UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH CLASS - The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is offering an Undergraduate Research Seminar. The course focuses on Applied Research in Voice. For more information, please ckick here.
  • OPEN HOUSE - The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is holding an open house for prospective graduate and post-bachelor's students. The open house is on Friday, January 15, 2010 from 1:00 to 2:30 pm for prospective graduate students and on the same day from 3:00 to 4:30 pm for prospective post-bachelor's students.
  • SPECIALTY TRACKS - Students entering our graduate program in Fall 2009 will have specialty track options.
  • ADJUNCT WORK - Those interested in part-time adjunct supervision or community outreach service delivery are encouraged to contact Melissa Bruce, Clinic Director, at 713-743-2773. Summer semester opportunities exist in the expertise areas of adult aphasia and voice disorders.

The Department is in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and it is home to approximately 26 faculty and staff. The Department's mission is to advance the understanding of normal and disordered speech, language and hearing through teaching, scholarship and service to the community. We train graduate students to provide clinical services in speech-language pathology, provide service to the community, and conduct research on various areas of communication sciences and disorders.
