Student Responsibilities
- Students are required to sign up for a ETC reservation time at least 24 hours before each test using the ETC Reservations System. Failure to make a reservation on time will result in students being admitted on test day on a "standby" basis, where they will be admitted based on room availability and instructor consent, and seating will not be guaranteed.
- Know your WebCT login. If you have to reset your password, it will cut into your testing time and you will not be allowed to make it up.
- Dress so that you can adapt to any room temperature.
- Eating and drinking are not permitted in the E.T.C.
- Be present at the E.T.C. at the scheduled time.
- Become familiar with the workings of the computer.
- Store all personal items in the cubicles provided at the E.T.C.
- You may not take calculators, books, papers, notes, pagers, PDA's, cell phones, purses, backpacks, iPods, MP3s, cameras, recording devices, or any other electronic equipment, or reference materials to the computer station.
- Make sure all electronic devices are turned off.
- You must start early enough to complete testing by the end of the testing sessions. If you have special testing needs, consult your instructor prior to the test.
- Do not attempt to remove test questions in any format or any notes relating to the test on paper or in any electronic form from the E.T.C.
- Protect the integrity of your answers.
- The proctor will not help work problems nor indicate whether the methodology or answers are correct.
- Maintain quiet, avoid distractions, and follow all instructions of the proctor. Problems with testing may be discussed with your instructor later.
- Disruptive behavior in any form will not be tolerated. The faculty and their support staff have sole discretion in determining what constitutes disruptive behavior. Students engaging in disruptive behavior will be asked to end their testing session and leave the E.T.C. You will not be allowed to return to the testing lab without permission from your instructor.
E.T.C. Guidelines
- Students requiring special arrangements (i.e. time extensions, added materials, etc.) must make these arrangements with the instructor and the Center for Students with DisABILITIES prior to testing.
- E.T.C. is monitored at all times through video surveillance.
- Food and drink are not allowed in the E.T.C.
- E.T.C. and staff assume no responsibility for students' personal belongings.
E.T.C. Closings and Delayed Starting Times
If adverse conditions (such as extreme weather or a local power failure) or other unplanned circumstances at the University of Houston that may make it necessary to cancel the administration of a test or to delay the beginning of testing, a message will be posted on the E.T.C website. Do not call the E.T.C.
