Syncing Your iTunes to an iPod

Connecting the iPod to iTunes

When you connect your iPod to your computer, iTunes should automatically recognize it and you will see an icon show up as an option in the left side navigation in iTunes.

NOTE: You can only connect and sync your iPod to one computer!
Attempts to dock and/or sync to another computer may result in your iPod getting overwritten with the contents of the new computer's library. Be sure to read any dialogue messages that may appear very carefully to ensure you do not accidentally overwrite any existing contents!

If your iPod is connected successfully and unless you have made changes in the iTunes Preferences, iTunes should immediately begin to sync up the episodes to the iPod. You will see a message that your iPod is syncing in your iTunes status window and your iPod will also display a "Do not disconnect" message. You should allow iTunes to completely synchronize the iPod before you disconnect to ensure you do not corrupt your iPod.

Once the sync is complete when you are ready to disconnect, be sure to eject the iPod from iTunes by clicking the eject button to the right of the iPod's icon in iTunes or by dragging the iPod's icon to the trash from the Desktop.

Selecting the Episodes to Sync

In your Podcast Directory, by default any episodes that are checked off will automatically be downloaded to the iPod when it is connected. If you want to be selective about which episodes actually get moved to the iPod, you can uncheck the boxes to the left of the episode name. You can also specify which podcast channels will be synced by using the Preferences->Podcasts option while your iPod is connected to the computer.
