Art Focus: The Big Picture

Art Focus Starts with You

Whether you are an arts aficionado or a student on your first museum field trip, museum visitors and web users are at the center of our dynamic educational program Art Focus.  Whether you catch a public program, explore our web resources, conduct scholarly research, take a free guided tour, or simply seek a healthy dose of culture, Blaffer Gallery is your resource for contemporary art.  The museum’s educational programs strive to give you the tools to re-imagine your ideas of what art is and what it can do, helping you to add depth and "meaning"  to the museum experience. We hope you leave the museum with new ideas that both challenge and inspire you.

Perhaps the most frequently asked question of both first-time and veteran visitors to contemporary art museums worldwide is, Well, what is art?

We can help you find your own answer:

    • Guided Tours are free and enable your group or class to discover the newest, most innovative contemporary art.
    • Self-guided tours can be taken by dialing 713.481.2811 on your cell phone and following the prompts to get more info on the works on view.
    • Public Programs are always fun, and odds are you'll learn something along the way. Find out about our many programs for adults and youth .
    • University Community Programs offer many ways for students and faculty to get and stay involved with Blaffer Gallery.
    • Blaffer Gallery's Alumni Program (B-GAP) encourages everybody to stay involved and in touch.
