In January 2005, the Blaffer Student Association (BSA) was founded with the goal to increase student participation in the museum community, enabling students to enrich their educational experience and the museum to reach an important audience.
Currently, the BSA strives to present activities that are social and fun, and that spark students’ quest for knowledge—as well as to provide opportunities for University of Houston students to get involved in planning or promoting Blaffer educational programs such as Brown Bag Gallery Tours and Studio Saturday (an annual day of art-making). Lastly, the BSA gives students an outlet to promote the arts on campus.
What BSA Gives and Gains
- Raises on-campus awareness of Blaffer programs and represents the museum in our community
- Gives UH students access to the museum community and its resources as they become an integral part of the museum team
- Creates events that tie into museum programs and are designed by and for students
- Increases student participation and the quality of the UH student experience
- Former BSA members are eligible to join the Blaffer Gallery Alumni Program (Blaffer GAP).
Join
The BSA welcomes university students from all academic disciplines who share a passion for the arts and are interested in meeting like-minded peers. Officers lead the group, and members assist and participate in BSA events. Both groups receive e-news blasts to keep them in the loop about upcoming events.
