Withdrawals
A student can drop or withdraw from a course with an Add/Drop Form. There are published deadline dates for adding and dropping classes. Please see the online course schedule for this information. The forms can be picked up at the Academic Affairs Center, room 315 Agnes Arnold Hall or in your major department. The student must complete all the information on the form and take it to your instructor to receive your instructor’s signature. If you are withdrawing from more than one class, you can place all the classes on one form. But for each course, you need each instructor’s signature.
The grade of W (withdrawal) indicates that the student was passing or that no evaluative data were available at the time the student dropped the course. The grade of W is assigned to a course only after the last day to drop or withdraw without receiving a grade (four weeks after the first day of classes in a fall or spring semester), and before the final day to drop or withdraw (four weeks prior to the last day of classes in a fall or spring semester). Students are responsible for initiating action to drop or withdraw from classes. Students who fail to do so will be retained on the class rolls even though they may be absent for the remainder of the semester. In such instances a grade of F (or U in S/U graded courses) will be awarded unless the conditions for a grade of "I" have been met, and the "I" has been requested by the student due to an extenuating circumstance.
Medical withdrawals and withdrawals because of family emergencies are handled through the Office of Student Academic Support in Room 109 Ezekiel Cullen Building. The student needs to bring all supporting documents and fill out any and all paper work needed for the withdrawal with this office. Supporting documents include a written request for the withdrawal and a statement from the student’s physician or psychologist.
It is extremely important that the student pay his/her fee bill on time. The student’s registration will be canceled automatically if the bill is not paid by the due date. There are published deadline dates for when fee bills are due. Please see see the online schedule for this information. Students who have been financially withdrawn because of non-payment will not be allowed back into the courses in the College of Liberal Arts And Social Sciences.
