Getting Started at the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences

All students interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree with a major in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences should first complete an application to the University of Houston. A complete undergraduate admissions application must include the following documents:

1. A freshman or transfer admissions application. Applications are available at the University of Houston Office of Admissions (122 E. Cullen) or the Academic Affairs Center at 315 Agnes Arnold Hall on campus. Undergraduate applicants who are United States citizens or legal permanent residents may apply online using the Texas Common Application.
2. $50 application fee made payable to the University of Houston.
3. Official high school transcripts (freshmen only).
4. Official transcripts from each college attended (transfer students).
5. SAT/ACT Scores (freshmen only).
   

The application and all supporting documents should be submitted to:

A complete application for international students must include the following documents:

1. An international application form. International students may pick up an application at the Academic Affairs Center or the Office of Admissions (122 E. Cullen). International students should not use the online Texas Common Application.
2. $75 (US) application fee maade payable to the University of Houston.
3. Two official or certified copies of all academic work including all subjects completed and the grades earned in the original language with an English translation.
4. Official TOEFL test score showing a minimum of 550 on the paper exam or 213 on the computerized exam or 79 on the internet exam.
5. Letter of Financial Backing (form included with application)
6. Educational Experience Form (form included with application)
7. Statement of Understanding (form included with application)
8. Two passport-size photographs
   

The application and all supporting documents for the international application should be submitted to:

All application materials must be submitted before the deadline for the semester the student is seeking admission. Application deadlines are posted on the UH web site and published in the online course schedule.

When the application has been reviewed, the applicant will receive a letter from the University of Houston Office of Admissions indicating the admission committee's decision. General admissions requirements are posted on the UH web site and published in the University of Houston Undergraduate Catalog.
