REVIEW 1.15: Adverbs
An easily recognizable ending of adverbs encountered in this course is:
-ως as the ending of a stem known to be that of an adjective of Type 1.
Examples: καλῶς = well, beautifully, from καλός; κακῶς = badly, poorly, from κακός.
The neuter sg,and sometimes the neuter pl, of an adjective may be used as an adverb:
Examples: μόνον = only πολλά = often ("many times") πρῶτον = first, firstly
Many other adverbs need to be memorized as part of one’s vocabulary.
Examples: αἰεί / ἀεί = always; εὖ = well; ἔτι = still, yet
