Note 1: With the exception of the second person εἶ, the present of this verb is enclitic (= it does not have its own accent, but leans on the preceding word), yet the forms are customarily given an accent when written independently, as here. They also received a written accent in particular contexts. We do not address detailed issues of accent in this course.
