Bill Evans

Bill Evans is a dancer, teacher, choreographer, administrator, movement analyst, and writer. He is a full professor and former Head of Dance in the Department of Theatre & Dance at the University of New Mexico, where he has been on the faculty since 1988. He is director of the Bill Evens Dance Company (founded in 1975) and also director of the Bill Evans Summer Institute of Dance (founded in 1976) and the Bill Evans Teachers' Intensives (founded in 1999).

Mr. Evans maintains an active career as a freelance choreographer and solo performer. His work has appeared in all fifty states, as well as numerous international countries including France, Germany, England, Japan, Mexico, and Russia.

In the US, his works have been performed is such prestigious venues as Riverside Festival in NYC, the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and the American Dance Festival.

Evans has received numerous awards and fellowships including the Guggenheim Fellowship and thirteen choreographic fellowships, production grants, or company grants from the NEA.
